Sumner-Fredericksburg Schools

Committed to excellence in lifelong learning, leadership, and character.

ENCORE is held at Durant Elementary every month. During this monthly celebration, Character Counts is promoted and celebrated.

ENCORE begins with the Pledge of Allegiance and the Character Counts Pledge. These pledges are lead by our fifth grade students. We then sing a song, “We Are the Kids From Durant School."

Other things that take place during ENCORE are celebrating the month’s birthdays with the entire school singing the birthday song, drawing names from the “Bucket of Fun,” and watching a presentation from one of the grades that reinforces with the month’s pillar.

Reading Counts! winners are recognized, and any special guests or upcoming activities are typically acknowledged during ENCORE. And, the student body also sings a song that goes along with the building theme.

The ENCORE celebration concludes with the school fight song, "On Cougars".
